Digging through a box at the last gunshow I found this. Looking around I can’t figure out what rifles would have a letter prefix as in the case of the ink stamped serial in the later half, or is that perhaps not a part of the serial?

You may want to correct your thread title. It should read "Schießbuch".
"Scheißbuch" is the German word for crappy literature, such as Karl Marx's manifesto or Michelle Obongo's memoirs. The literal translation is Shitbook.

Yeah, nearly fell of the chair laughing when just reading the title. But it might be working, he caught my attention on which shitbook he wanted to post about.

Fixed it fit you. It’s unnatural for us to do “ie”, I do it all the time with Kriegsmodell.

Remember the rule in German (learned very early on in 1st year German)...with the ei/ie construction, the second vowel is the long sound...

So the ie in Liebe is lee-ba, love...

The ie in Leibe is lie-ba, life...

If you are in the Waffen SS don't mix up Leibstandarte with Liebstandarte…. two completely different units...

and sheiB is shite, shieB is shoot...

Mike is right, it's unnatural for Americans to do "ie" and if I want to find some German navy rifles, I always search for "Kreigsmarine" and not just "Kriegsmarine".

With the German language you have to be very careful what you write, the capitalization is very important and here are some examples:

Der Junge sieht dir ungeheuer ähnlich. - The boy looks very much like you.
Der Junge sieht dir Ungeheuer ähnlich. - The boy looks like a monster, like you.

Der gefangene Floh. - The caught flea.
Der Gefangene floh. - The prisoner escaped.

Warum sind füllige Frauen gut zu Vögeln? - Why are big women good to birds?
Warum sind füllige Frauen gut zu vögeln? - Why are big women good to f**k?

But also the emphasis is very important:

Polizisten auf einer Kreuzung muss man umfahren. - You have to drive around policemen when they stand at a crossroad.
Polizisten auf einer Kreuzung muss man umfahren. - You have to knock over policemen when they stand at a crossroad.

I’ve got some new favorite German phrases now. Lol.

Learning German messed up my English. As has been mentioned the “ie/ei” rule is hard and fast in German. In English it’s all over the board, I find myself guessing sometimes now

I think you may be referring to the ID number of the official who certified the scoring.

Steve

LOL.

Clay, glad to see your finally starting to come over from the Dark Side by getting into trainers.

Where the heck do you all find this stuff.. my gun shows in VA never have anything cool.

Hey believe me, I still have to push through all the bro guns and beef jerky first to find anything.

I just think of the trainers as an extension of the commercial rifles I already collected :biggrin1:
