I buy capture paper guns

I have wanted one of these for a while. Paid more than I probably should have, but not everyday I run across a nice rifle like this locally. Only down side is that there are no depot stamps on the wood. Any thoughts on what the sling is? Also, any thoughts on the cleaning rod marks?

I like the reused buttplate screw a lot.

Congrats again Ty! That is a wonderful rifle! This is pretty interesting, I believe that is actually a G24t TG lacking the circle Z and all, but I’m not positive? Really nice shape and a Lion to boot

Very nice rifle! Rampant lion crest VZ-24s are getting harder and harder to find. My DOU 42 G.24(t) has a circle Z on the trigger guard.

Interestingly, I have VZ-24 sn 7980E4 which is also lacking a circle Z on the trigger guard. It was modified by the Germans via the rear swivel being removed, but serial #'s were not applied to the bands or bottom metal.

Something interesting to note is that the circle Z stamp on the G.24(t) parts are different than the circle Z from early VZ-24 production when you compare it to my 1926 VZ-24. The circle Z that appears on early VZ-24s is significantly bigger than the later ones.

Yeah looks like I’m probably off base with the circle Z, pulled my 24t out as well and it’s marked. So I no longer know why some are and others aren’t. Perhaps the marked ones are left over vz24 parts used in 24t production, not sure?

Beautiful rifle.I am such a sucker for a rampant lion! it appears to be mostly if not all matching.. i have never been so lucky

That is a really nice rifle. As stated not easy to find this clean and unmolested. These have been climbing in price pretty steadily over the last 5-10 years so you might not have overpaid. I don't see them locally in this condition either so I'd probably have done what I needed to bring it home too. Congrats!

Ooooo! I need that sling!

Agreed all around, really hard to find original matching vz24’s, well at least Ww2 original given the German modifications. I’ve yet to find one myself, congrats again!

Yes!! I missed the first offering of the BGS rifles but grabbed a few beauty G1s when Apex first had them. Beautiful rifles IMO and that sling is pretty darn mint!

I think that's because Dave owns them all. Have you seen his thread on them on his site?

No I haven’t, I’d check it out if I could :biggrin1:

I was lucky, a friend just hooked me up with a BGS last week, can’t wait to get it!

Cool Vz.24 mod. There are so many little variations in these that they could be a collecting theme all their own. As Farb said (and I told you earlier) the sling is postwar, it's for the Austrian Stg.58. Most of these are stamped with the Stolla Wien oval and an ink stamp date. People usually remove that. I think there are even websites which identify this as a "Vz.24 sling". Many of these slings are cut down from 52" down to 46" and an extra hole is added, fake markings, a frosch, and sold for $150+ on epay.

Anyway, the lion crest is a bonus as it is Czech military contract. The logo rifles were also Czech military contract but the logo is probably not as cool looking as that lion. They are the same in all other respects and vary mainly in the band configuration, whether there is a take down disc added, and depot markings. Most are not depot marked. Congrats, nice Vz.mod. :happy0180:

Czechoslovak military contract, as there is czechoslovak lion on reciever, Brno 1937 production, german refurbished , the cleaning rod is yugoslavian as mentioned. b.r.Andy

Very nice rifle. The numbered floorplate and triggerguard were they German numbered? Most of my Czech export rifles are receiver, barrel, buttstock (some under stock) and bolt.
