I've already got a rifle just like this but this one was so cheap I just had to have it. Number matching apart from the bolt which interestingly is from a G33/40 not sure about the stock as it's sanded. The stock is marked K for Kriegsmarine but the serial number is hard to read, so it might be matching. The rifle needs a thorough cleaning and some elbow grease but I quite like it. Theres a couple of markings I havn't seen before, like the proof mark (?) between the second and third WaA623 the right side of the receiver and the marking on the left side just beneath the tangent sights.

That one is quite interesting! Looks similar to a norwegian reworked stock. Not a bad one to have in the collection!

John.

Thank you for your kinds word. Yes, I'm from Norway. The lion holding an axe on left side of the receiver shows it was sold by the Norway army post war. So the stock is most likely refurbished, if I can call it that, not by the army but a a previous owner. The unidentified mark on the right side almost looks like the Radom eagle similar to the on the receiver.

The buttplate is matching to rifle s/n, so very possible original stock that was refinished. Perhaps one of the few Norwegian K98k's that were not reworked to 30-06.

I guess the norwegian army as the germans considered these rifles as subpar. I have 13 rifles and three of them are marked with the norwegian lion and these are two polish G29/40's and a czech G33/40, non of which carry the "made in germany" brand.
