1938 243 Luft matching

:hail: I don’t think you’ve ever posted a rifle that was “just okay” you’ve got some incredible examples thank you for posting them! What a gorgeous rifle :thumbsup:

It's a beautiful rifle, thank you very much for all the photos and I agree with Heavy, it should be a "pic stickie".

I have a question, is the letter "P" or "K" on the stock behind the the grip ball? I guess there is a "P".

Glue time! :laugh: I've been following along and I also think it should be P

I'll guess laminate code kr too. Maybe soon you'll be able to develop a timeline when some of the blank providers used what glue and when they stopped marking for that.

You are very welcome, thank you very much for the data and the photo.

@Heavy
The laminate supplier "Kr" would be possible, but more likely is the supplier "Br". We need more data and in particular the early laminate stocks from 1937/1938 are very important. If you have a early Mauser Oberndorf, Erma or BLM with "K" glue marking, in this case we really need the laminate code.

Bruce is still looking for one of these.They must be quite rare as there are no 1938 243s in the picture stickys.Mainly stick wing eagles,fireing proof droop wing.

Hi ajs, considering the block letter (k for your rifle), there may have been at least 120k copies produced of S243 1938 (the outdated Backbone of the Wehrmacht says 176,308, I think).
However a (low/lower than average) survival rate (what has the Luftwaffe done with these rifles ???) may explain why they are hard to find these days. Yours is obviously in great condition.

I was just looking in Laws old book and this 7180K would be the lowest observed second variation [no S prefix]
