Went to a gun show near my cabin today, bought a Remington built m1891 with no import
Marks the second I walked in the door.

I walked about 10-20 more feet and saw a tag on a rifle that said “Czech Mauser $350”
I could tell from a few feet away it was more than just that.
I don’t think the guy realized it was actually a G24t in what I’m pretty sure is a VZ24 stock.
Nice DOU 41 receiver, beautiful bore, straight bolt handle with a Czech stamp on the safety lever.
I think it’s in a VZ24 stock tho, but I got the rifle for $300 after a little haggling so I’m not complaining.

Not too bad a grab, I would have bought it for 300 all day, does the bolt match, looks like it might be vz24 also unless the bluing is just worn? I gotta say, I think the Remington was the best find though.

The good news is the earliest G24t used vz24 stocks so you could convert one to at least “look” correct on that rifle. It’s missing the d/c fore end but I have an unsanded G24t laminate stock if you’re interested.

Flynaked- there are no numbers on the bolt in the G24t, just one small Czech stamp on the safety.
I’m guessing it is not the original bolt. I don’t know much about G24t rifles but I definitely wasn’t passing this up for the price.
Send me pics and details on the laminate stock you have, maybe we can work something out

Yeah, it’s got a Tula star on the butt stock so I knew it wasn’t the original m91 stock. I might use this one for trade bait. But the G24t is staying with me.

I had a few complete M91 stocks but honestly for what the stock, handguard, and bands go for you are better off trading as is and let someone else spend the money. Last ones I sold were $320 and $350.

Does it look to be rusted at all? A good oil soak and patience if so. If not it maybe dried grease, careful warming with a hairdryer might do the trick. Buuuut there is one other thing that it might be, I need to go measure something first. I wonder if 24t barrels are identical to vz24’s or if they are k98 sized in this area, the potential issue being that vz24 lugs are something like .012 under sized in the barrel relief and won’t settle fully on a K98k barrel. I’ll break down a 24 later to check the barrel.

No rust, I’ll just stand the rifle with the muzzle down and put a little penetrating fluid around the band and let it sit for a day or two before trying again

You did alright and it's an affordable restoration. Thanks for sharing!

Well thanks to an awesome forum member here, I have an original G24t stock on the way.

Now I just need a laminate G24t Handguard, and a cupped buttplate for it

That's awesome! Congrats and look forward to seeing the finished product.
