Have a chance to grab this one but unsure exactly what it is. Is it post war French? It does have some waffenampt,s.The stock has been bleached unfortunately.
Way too much. I paid $700 for matching one with French Finish last year.1k too much? I know the stock is bad but I will be fine with it after I BLO it.
These in great original condition seem to bring about 1/4 of what you would expect from an all German one, just FYI. Does it have the special cleaning rod/bayo lug still?
No they aren't making anymore but they made plenty. To pay $1k for that rifle would be foolish. There are a lot of large collections out there owned by collectors in their 70s.Still a neat rifle and if you want it I don't think $1000 is out of line, they aren't making anymore.
According to what I have read being a C block puts it into Being German Made but it does have the Star?
I would suggest reading Vol. 3. It covers the various stages of svwMB assembly and French production. It is French proofed so finished under their supervision.
I suppose in a way you could say it is "German made" since it was built in a German factory with mostly German workers using German steel but I think when it comes to whether an svwMB is "German" or "French" most people go by the proofs and acceptance. Being in the "c" block doesn't automatically make it "German" or "French". There are German proofed and accepted examples, German proofed but not accepted examples, and French proofed examples mixed throughout the block. There are also German proofed but French modified rifles.
