Its a WaA37 inspection. When found in odd places, it usually means there was an issue with that particular spot that failed inspection and had to be corrected.
 
Color me confused but I thought the only rifles the W-shaped front of the mag-well appeared on were dou and dot...
 
Here’s one in a Bsw and another inspection on an Erma.

That is correct and in late 1942 there were already problems at Sauer & Sohn, with stocks supplied by Haenel. Therefore on September 15, 1942 was a meeting with Major von Kalckstein and Amtmann Herbst from the Heeres Abnahmestelle and Sauer & Sohn factory manager Mr. Zögner and engineer Tangermann. One of the reason was: Stocks was cut improperly, there was a misalignment between barrel channel and magazine cutout, in addition some cutout wasn't deep enough.
