Did Merkel produce K98k parts?

From their site:

"Hunting guns played a subordinate role in the war production from 1939. Merkel became a parts supplier for carburettor engines, carbines and rangefinders – and the number of employees rose to 350 in peak periods."

Are the carbines in question Karabiner 98ks? Or something else? If so, which firm(s) did they supply to? How would those parts be identified?

Yes, they made bolt stops, followers and ejector springs for JP Sauer & Sohn production throughout the war. This info is covered in Volume 1 of our books. They were part of the Suhl-Zella-Meliser Waffenvereinigung. In 1934 and early 1945 parts made by them were marked with this “S”:
