Hey guys,
I have a Russian Capture Mauser 98k produced in 1938 and marked S/243. It is almost entirely mismatched, other than the barrel and receiver matching each other, and has a later war laminate stock. I recently decided to purchase a new production Numrich walnut stock to prevent a small crack in my laminated stock from spreading and to keep the gun a shooter in my collection. I was wondering, when I install metal hardware on the new stock, should the parts (buttplate, stock disassembly disks, recoil lug and bayonet lug) be blued or should they be in the white?
I realize this gun doesn't have much collector value being mismatched, and it is one I love to take to the range, but I would like it to look as it would have originally if for no other reason than to satisfy my own OCD.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!
