My first k98, a byf 44

I just picked this up the other day. My very first k98, a byf 44. Looks all original and I’m super happy with it. Missing the sight hood, cleaning rod and the bolt is from a Gewehr 98. But those are all things I can work on. Anyone know where I can get a byf 44 bolt?

Nice later 44 byf. I JUST sold an "L" block bolt not long back. I have some affordable Norway refurbed K98 bolts. Closest would be an e/655 proofed bolt, more for a 1941 byf but close. Have sight hoods, rods and slings too. if you're ever looking, look me up.

Congrats Rooman, very cool byf 44 bolt mm that will certainly increase in value. My first K98k was not nearly that nice or that matching. You'll find a byf 44 bolt, perhaps one in or close to the correct L block here. Run an ad in the Trader and offer yours for trade. :happy0180:

Glad you scored it. Looks decent and better than my BYF44. Mix-matcher with speed milled band up front and bolt did not match itself. Only set me back $200 around 1994 though.

Congrats on your first 98k! I agree with some of the others that it’s a whole lot better than my first, but that was on a 12yo’s budget too

An L block is likely the most desirable block of 44 as well, lots of neat stuff showing up at this time. Great looking stock, I’ve always been a sucker for riveted cross bolts too.
