Hello,

If someone doesn't know what the deal was here is the previous link http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread.php?36883-Out-of-town-looking-at-a-bcd-42

M/M bolt and hand guard. The rear sight I'm not sure if it has been replaced or not. Came with original sling and a Czech bayo.

I will post pics of the bolt later, it seems interesting to me even though it doesn't match the rifle.

Thanks to mowzerluvr for the sight hood and cleaning rod.

Please let me know what you fellows think.

Bolt photos

This might be a depot bolt. No serial numbers on the cocking piece and firing pin. The extractor has 37 on the usual side, but 11 on the other.

Could be depot reworked bolt- the cocking piece is an ERMA armorer spare and the safety is an early Sauer armorer along with the apparent early Gustloff armorer's firing pin. I have a Weimar 98m bolt reworked similarly with a few components replaced with armorer parts.

Most interesting though-- The bolt body and shroud are S28-- a variation of the k98B (full length like a gew98, but turned down bolt and side mounted sling) The prevailing thought is that the S28 rifles were secretly built in the 20s by DWM. Rare and desirable bolt to a rare and desirable rifle. Most of the small parts were marked S28 or crown/O. Here are a few pics of some of the S28 markings on my rifle. I was lucky enough to buy it off a fellow member and good friend last year.

Check the Weimar section for more info. If you found someone who needed an S28 bolt, they would be very happy to buy/trade.

As Chris stated that is a expensive and very desirable bolt. If someone had a S28 rifle that had a incorrect bolt for it this would be the perfect replacement. Even though the bolt would be a mismatched they would at least have the correct bolt for it. I will be honest I have seen complete S28 bolts bring close to $500 before and up. Their just not something you see floating around in the market. And that is one reason I look in the parts pins for them at shows. Hoping one is in a box somewhere for a lower price.

I've never been so lucky at a show, but I do like the bolt mismatch surprise... I've bought several bolt mm not knowing the bolt with it. I've managed a BSW, late steyr, e/6 and e/211 bolt in some of them.

Thanks guys for the info on the S28 rifles and on my bolt. I didn't realize what the bolt was. I was more in tuned with the rest of the rifle than the bolt.

Well if someone needs the bolt for their S28 rifle, I'd be happy to trade. I'm always happy to help a fellow member here.

You bet-- happy to help-- unless you want to pop it up for sale, keep it for trade for something you need/want.
