Interesting G APPEL RG34-Type Pull-Through Chain Variant

Have not seen this most interesting G APPEL made chain before. Swivel link is marked "G APPEL 1936" and is "stick-eagle" WaA4 accepted. The "figure-8" link type utility chain was used in Germany during WW2 and afterwards. Have only observed this as a pull-through in the post-WW2, DDR RG34 kits. Also note unusual "V-link" attaching the chain to the swivel-head as well. This chain was described as being used in the MG34/42 cleaning kit, along with other components.

Early original toggle assembly and bead attached to a post war twisted wire chain. There are original twisted wire chains but they are not of this style and configuration. The chain shown here is post war and as you noted, often found in the DDR kits. I call them "dog chain" pull-throughs as the construction is similar although of course smaller.
