BYF 43 After Market Sight Hood?

Anyone tell me if this is for sure aftermarket. Never seen one on a k98 before. Looks like it’s been on there a good while. Thanks a bunch.

Seems to be a Czech VZ24 front sight.
This eggspurt tries to explain the reason for its odd shape... (fast forward to 3:10 min).

I have seen these sight protectors on newly imported East German k98 rifles from the Czech republic in mid 90's
