French R-35 Carbines were made from refurbished Mle 1886 Rifle Receivers.. In the period of 1936 to 1940.. The 'R' stands for (RACCOURCI) shortened.. This was considered an updated carbine.. It was 3 rounds tubular fed.... Thats right a 3 shot carbine.. Many were surrenered to the Germans in 1940 and reissued to German Kriegsmarine and occupying troops.. The Germans even manufactured ammo for the French Lebel Rifles and Carbines, and shortened the Model 1886 bayonet for use with the R-35 carbine and modified a German bayonet frog for use with the shortened bayonet..Enjoy this Historical R-35 Carbine and accessories.. Found with this R-35 was a named German KM Gasmask a single KM ammo pouch with French 1940 Lebel ammo and 1943 German produced Lebel ammo, a hand full of KM rating patches and a few other small items...
