Hey all! Just thought I'd share some photos of my G.43. It's a beautiful numbers matching rifle. The stock was lightly sanded, but you can still faintly make out stamps. The handguard is the correct "Durafoil" material. The sling is original as well and the rifle also came with an original buttstock manual! I took her apart for a good cleaning and oil as soon as I got home with it

Neat rifle as it’s one that falls into the transition of duv44 to qve45. “G.43” and “K.43” also starts to get mixed in at this point. Even though it’s slightly sanded, that stock belongs to that rifle. This particular rifle is also mixed in with several reported to have Durofol hand guards, so it probably came out of the factory with that hand guard.

Just FYI: Your rifle is two away from reported rifle K.43 qve45 #5635k. So, yours is mixed all in with the qve45’s.

Thanks for the great information! Just love the knowledge here on this site :)

Bringing this thread back after about a month...:behindsofa: Looking through some old posts in this forum, I found this post by a member here named Berlin Lubecker. I found it interesting because my rifle is only 16 digits ahead of his. His duv 44 is named as a K43 and the comments go on to say that this is rare and that during this time it swapped between G and K before ultimately going to K43. Is does remind me of my own!

Tiger 2 Tank, I didn’t pick up on it at first, but you mentioned mine is two away from reported rifle 5635k, but that number is actually just over 400 away from my number (mine is 5231k). Was that a typo, or did you read my SN incorrectly? Is mine one produced during that swapping back and forth and is it still one that would have been mixed with the qve45’s? Where does mine fall in with the other rifle posted?

Hello,
Yes, yours is in that transition from where they started labeling or calling these G.43’s to K.43’s and from the company code “duv” to “qve”. Yours is in the mix of all that. It wasn’t just a plain STOP from duv to qve. Transitions happened, and in a transition you’ll see mixes, not a clean break or stop. It happened with everything, these rifles included.

“#5635k” was mentioned because in my listings there is your rifle, then another “G.43 duv44”, then the next known rifle (known for now) is a “K.43 qve45”. So, yours, then 2 more rifles before K.43 qve45 #5635k shows up. Also, just for fun, K.43 qve45 #3714k is the last known (known for now) K.43 qve45 before your rifle. Just wanted to show how your rifle is in the mix of all this re-coding and such.

These aren’t really “rare”, but have a unique place in all this with BLM rifles. They show what was going on in this little transition period on these rifles.

K.43 qve45 #3714 is mentioned (no photos of it) in the “Hitler’s Garands” book, page 118 and 119 just for a fun look. I have one other entry on yours from 06-20-19 where I had originally seen your rifle and recorded it. It’s neat keeping up with these as I find them or given info on them from other people.

I understand now! Great research on your part, I’m impressed! It’s great that there are guys like you taking the time to keep the history alive on these rifles. At some point I’d love to get a copy of Hitler’s Garands, but it’s just so expensive...

It will be expensive until his new book comes out. I’ll still keep mine, but I suspect a lot will be on the market after that. Or, just wait it out for the new book. Unknown time frame, but it is reportedly being worked on.

The book is also about German semi-auto weapons? An updated version of Hitler's Garands?
