Problem 337-1940 for review

Wow, on a quick look, previously slightly buffed? and then reblued action, humped bolt, renumbered stock, a host of armorer parts, humped bands, basically started from a BR it looks like and not even a good one.

Before we get started I ask all of you to refrain from any editorials, other than comment on the rifle.
Keep this on point or I will edit your comments.

I see a multitude of issues but figured we would objectively review this example.

B.
on my phone...is buttplate numbered? Missing 2nd proof on triggerguard..
.

It does look reblued to me as well, but perhaps the previous thread on Raven26's S42/G tells me that I'm not seasoned at discerning that, especially when a camera flash is involved.

The "4" in the s/n on the trigger guard, bolt body (and safety), and front barrel band look suspect to me, particularly how straight the lines are and how thin the horizontal nub is at the right side of the 4. I'm not as accustomed to Gustloff's s/n fonts as I am with Brunn I but that 4 still looks odd. Compare it to the pic reference 337 1940 and the 4's look totally different.

I'd like to know what people think of the stock markings, I am unsure of those.

I don’t like the bolt numbering either and when I see a finished bolt with no wear at the contact points on a 75+ year old military rifle it always raises alarm bells for me.

Unless this gun went through a depot rebuild of some kind then it is a humped together POS.

Mint ?????? As Bill Clinton said, "It depends on what IS, is ".....

Here are some images of my g block, showing some parts of mine that concern me on the one for sale

337's are my "thing". I stopped counting the things wrong half way through the photos. Too bad.

Lot's of valid points brought up by many already. I'll double down the butt plate should have the full serial number. Also for me the entirety of the bottom metal is bad for several reasons. TG is wrong piece but please zoom the serial number on the floor plate and I think you'll see something interesting.

Is that a "4" inside the 3???

Barrel is replaced, and I think I see a 0,2 peeking out just above the woodline so that at least is probably legit depot work. Rest of the gun looks like a mess though the pictures are not good. Looks like the WaA749 stock markings were added to a WaA26 stock?

Why is the rifle serial on stock stamped so deeply while the acceptance markings next to it are nearly worn off?

That jumped out to me too. Definitely seems to be a pattern.

On a positive note the Refinished Finnish M24 price was cut in half. Halved again and it maybe worth it for someone to get as a place holder.

This thread had so much potential. Where are the uploaded pics and description of the problems with the pics and the rifle serial? If you post the rifle maker and serial then an internets search will find it. It is then tagged. When the link goes, then of what value is this thread? Our hobby was doing fine as a result of our efforts, but it seems in the last year things are getting a bit out of hand.

As requested...
