G43 ac43

Please help a new collector! Kind of fell into this one by accident (miracle?), have the opportunity to buy a G43 ac43 in excellent condition. All parts matching! Clean shiny bore and smooth action. Absolutely no pitting, rust or freckling. The stock has two VERY small hairline cracks developing behind the action, not a structural issue though. Other than that the stock is in fantastic shape. No cracks in the receiver and no mushrooming in the op rod.

I know something this rare is hard to put a number on but is there any rough spread on the value of one of these?

Many thanks! Any suggestions in what to look for before I buy are also appreciated!

It’s just too hard due to the real basic description and information given. You could be looking at “shooter value” OR “collector value”. The best is with a hands on evaluation by a known expert on these. Next best way is by good photos of certain areas. Next is a super accurate description of things on the rifle to evaluate what’s going on.

A G.43 ac43 is pretty rare all by itself. But, if things aren’t right with it, it’s just a shooter.

Basic things to check would be to make sure all the parts are correctly matching. Next would be to determine if the stock has been steel wooled, sanded and or shellacked. Photos are going to be the only way we are going to be able to tell, unless you know how to look at these.

If you have the serial number (with the letter block if there is one), I may have history and a description on it as I have been keeping a detailed serial number listings of G/K.43’s and G.41’s. Or, it may be a new one for my listings if you give it out.

For a broad ballpark, I would say that if it's been sanded or the parts aren't all matching, $1600 , if it's really nice and not sanded $3000.

I think you're spot on for an AC44. I would lean towards doubling your numbers for an AC43. OP this gives you an idea of the WIDE range you are looking at without photos. Every AC43 I have seen recently has had major stock issues.

I was able to fully disassemble the rifle and verify that all the serial numbers match and all marked parts have the Walther 359 stamp on them. The stock cartouches are clearly visible as well. I'll attach some photos as well. Thank you!

Thanks for the clarification!

Also has period correct sling and an aye G43 magazine. Receiver shows absolutely no signs of cracking and the op rod is no mushroomed at all. Bore is shiny and clean with strong grooves and lands. If there is any other information that would be beneficial in helping to determine value, please let me know and I will try to find out for you!

Thank you again. Like I said, I don't know too much about these and would hate to overpay because I didn't do my homework.

This rifle has been for sale on a popular auction sight for a few weeks now. Stock is sanded which for me is the kiss of death.

It’s been on gunbroker for a while now (just search “K43”). I’m pretty sure I have history on it but let me get to my listings tonight and I’ll post what I have.

I’ve had it recorded since 07-27-2019 from gunbroker.

The interesting thing about the rifle is that the scope rail is not notched, like the Gustloff G.43’s are like. It’s also the 2nd highest recorded G.43 ac43 known before the ac44’s start.

Couple things noted is that one locking lug matches and it is unknown on the second locking lug due to the poor quality of the photos. It probably matches at 71X, but it’s not confirmed. The other numbered parts look to be original and matching. There’s no stock keel proof stamp shown and the serial number on the stock keel is hard to see how deep it is. It’s hard to see the wrist proof stamp too. It looks recently stained for some reason, maybe it’s the photos? I would also want to see the mill marks on the bolt carrier where the numbers are and see a better photo of those numbers (without the whitened numbers). The number font looks right, but I would want to confirm it with a detailed photo of that area. Too many re-stamps happen there. It could be the photos...again...but, check the front end of that wood hand guard. It looks too rounded, or “shaved” downward at the front end.

I tried to compare my G.43 ac44 d block with this one and it’s just too hard due to the photos. My ac44 d block is actually in the book “Hitler’s Garands”. It’s photographed in the book but not the whole rifle as it was used to show what the serial numbers on the bolt carrier vs. receiver should or could look like.

I had it recorded that a buy price was set at $6,500.00 then. Way too much for the rifle. Right now it’s just too hard to tell what’s up with that stock for me to make a call on it.

Tiger, I am yet to see an ac43 with a notch on the rail. I think most if not all are flat like bcd rifles. The scope and mount where not yet developed it would appear.

That’s probably true on these and makes sense. It’s the first one I have recorded like that. Guess on the ones I ran across with photos I just hadn’t paid attention to them. This one for some reason I did and recorded it. And, if they are just reported to me without photos, then I don’t have that information.
