Default "Danzig mount" for sniper scope by Gewehrfabrik Danzig

    Hi

I search info and pictures about:
    - german sniper rifle used in WWI
    - sporting rifle type M98
    - rifle Modell 2 kal. 22
made by Gewehrfabrik Danzig with type montage for sniper scope called popular "Danzig mount".

This type mount was patented by Gewehrfabrik Danzig in 1919/1920.

    Hello PJB,
that mount usually is referred to as Reichswehr mount.
After WWI, when the GwF Danzig was closed down, the Patent was most likely sold to Gerard, Charlottenburg. At least the Reichswehr ordered that type of mount from Gerard.
There are two variations. The early one most likely already introduced at the very end of WWI. And the post war variation as shown in the Patent documents.
Have a few scopes with rings, and a Danzig sporter with Gerard Mod. K scope.

BTW: I do not like the rifle shown in the photo. Looks like a put together from parts!

    Thanks
    Wolfgang
