SS Polizei at Arnhem

Cool photo! Definitely appear to be Dutch carbines. Hard to say which models.

That is an interesting photo. Read the book It Never Snows in September. It's told from the German side of the Market Garden operation and reveals how some units were formed up and rushed into the fight using what was at hand, including some obsolete French tanks.

Not the best intel resulted in those paras being dropped into a hornets' nest of some top German combat infantry and armored units resting and refitting from the Eastern Front.

Exactly. Not to split hairs, but I think the SS Divisions resting there (9th and 10th) had E&E'd from northern France earlier in 1944. Very cool photo, and one that shows that the 2nd-3rd lines of defense are the 2nd-3rd lines...until they're not.

Photo looks to be from much earlier, judging by the helmet insignia and black uniform cuffs and collars.
