Bob: are they that rare?

In my experience, Walther KKWs are tough... and when intersected by high condition + matching, accessories, and interesting cartouches... that does create a rare commodity. At the other end, I watched a sported, bolt mm Walther KKW sit on a vendors table for perhaps 5 years. The devil is in the details...

I could see them getting that much money for that rifle. The sling, muzzle cover, cartouche, and overall condition really drive the price up. I would want to check that the bolt matches and that the cleaning rod is for a 22.

Code:
Bob,
I have one similar to yours. E/N proofed. I would have to agree with you. Hard to find in high condition. Does yours have the Walther a banner on the muzzle cover? I’ll check mine- I can’t remember if does or not.

I've seen all the pictures of that rifle and personally, I think $3900 is way too much--it's going to sit for a very long time.

Prices vary widely based on selling format and who is looking and at what time. Add in condition and extras and the prices go up exponentially.

So $3900 for..... A) No Walther Muzzle Cover B) A K98 cleaning rod and C) A K98 Sling...

Take this much more interesting (IMHO) Walther KKW example that recently sold at Morphy's Auctions (one of the top gun auction houses in the country) in early September for $2700 (includes buyer's premium). Single SA proofed Walther KKW rifles are pretty rare, double SA proofed are even rarer. Stock has some wear but the SA proofs make up for it. Bluing looks really good. So for, $2700 or $3900 which one would you rather have?

Side note: Pre-98 sold this rifle in I believe 2017/8 for $3400

This Walther reminds me of Bob's JGA DSM-34 SA Unit Marked :hail:, which he is going to sell to me one day.
