Unmarked scoped Mauser .22...What is this?.....

Picked this up at the local funshow...It seems to be a scoped mauser 300 series single shot .22 but the odd thing is that rifle is scrubbed of ALL markings except for the number on the extractor? and the trigger is numbered also...The stock which looks to be unsanded is missing the mauser crest...I had the mount off and it is blank there also....No proof marks or any other marks anywhere including under the wood line...Scope and mount are definitely period, and the mount is AKAH marked....As a side note the red dot for firing on the receiver looks untouched....Any help would be appreciated..Thanks ahead, Mike

Looks like a Mauser .22 rifle that has been modified or scrubbed of most of its markings. Maybe an Es340. The stock is not a Mauser factory stock. The three digit number that is showing looks original. Looks someone has been somewhat rough with it (slide safety and rear sight base look damaged). A put together rifle by someone sometime but who knows when and where. Interesting scope. Looked at it again. Could be an original stock that someone has modified heavily. Action rides kind of high in the stock.

Agree that it is probably a heavily worked over Es340. Another possibility is Es350 but they are not common. Too bad all markings that could ID it are long gone.

The stock seems reprofiled or a replacement. I think a replacement as there are no grasping grooves. The heavy pitting on the small parts probably indicates what the rest of the steel looked like overall before refinish. Heavy corrosion. Checkering is not very well executed and does not seem german or factory.

Precision measurement of the receiver will likely show removal of a lot of material if compared to another sample.

Is the butt plate marked? Butt plate material? Any barrel markings under the wood?

The scope and mount are nice examples. Scopes seem to be relatively common. Mounts are not. (I have been looking for one of those mounts for a while.)

No markings ANYWHERE...I took a chance at 250$...Bore is nice and the optics are excellent....Seems at worst it would be a good "shooter"...Butt plate is metal with no markings...Thanks for the comments...Ground squirrels beware...Lol...
