Bnz 45 rc

I made a post a little while back about a BNZ 44 bolt matching(but no bands unfortunately) that I picked up recently, but just today I grabbed this RC and wanted some opinions. My collection mostly consists of RC K98s which is why I had to get it. I didn't have any 1945 rifles before this one.

It looks to have a semi kriegsmodell stock according to Latewar. It is very rough and "chattered". It does not have the Russian shellac anymore. I know it's just a Russian Capture but I was hoping to get some opinions on it.

Thanks!

Looks to be a semi-Kriegsmodell stock that was originally on a dot44-swp45 rifle based on the chatter and sling cutout. The bands and screws look kinda new and I'm not to sure if they were done by the Russians or done later. both bands are earlier milled types so if the Russians did it they took the time to drill out both bands. The rear sight is from a 1942 era rifle without the pin hole. It would appear you lucked out on getting a bnz45 barreled action, and a kriegsmodell stock too with the rest of the parts being random assembly.

The RC stock was added from a different rifle as the Russian applied stock s/n doesn't match the RC rifle action.

Yeah, it definitely is a bit of a mix of parts from different times. But like you said, it appears I got lucky with the barreled action and stock even if they aren't exactly made for each other. I appreciate the info!

I figured that was the case, but I found the stock to be interesting enough in itself that I don't believe it not matching is a huge issue. If it wasn't an RC that would be an entirely different issue but here I don't think it matters near as much.

Bnz45s aren’t really common codes for RC, the theory is most especially S and t were factory and marshalling yard captures. R and Q may have gotten out as they are less common it seems. Either way I find it interesting when they show up as RC. Like what path did that take? Someone posted a t. Lock RC one time, I think almost all t blocks are in the USA, haha. So maybe a GI traded with a Soviet? Just something interesting to think about.

Andrew, I’ve got a 3 digit T block recorded as an RC, not sure if that’s what you we’re talking about, but if anyone has seen another that would be cool to know!

Even though it’s an RC and they added a number on the butt, that stock is very nice. Beautiful chatter on it! And as the others said unusual to see a BNZ45 as a RC.
