I have been collecting for a few years now. Mostly bolt action milsurp rifles. One constant is that I keep hearing about the quality of South American Mausers. This one caught my attention recently and I grabbed it. Still in its original 7.65 Argentine caliber and all matching. Good bore. Any information on these rifles is appreciated. I am excited to enter the world of South American Mausers.
FN made 30,000 Short Rifle Mausers to the specifications of Peru. These Mausers the safety is to the opposite direction of all others. It is considered its own model which is the Peruvian 1935. There were also an unknown number of Carbines made according to FN Mauser book but this has been disputed. They were initially made in 7.65mm Mauser, had checkered flat bolt knobs on one side, and were the first FN rifles with corrugated butt plates. Up to 80% of the Model 1935 were converted to .30-06. Most conversions were done by FN. The receivers were notched for the longer .30-06 round. They were also refinished. Most were blued some were painted like the Belgian 1950 Mausers. Cal .30 was often added to the stock and sometimes to the siderail and .30 on the top rear of the receiver. Many still remain in Peru.
All Have the Following Matching Parts
1. Receiver
2. Bolt
3. Stock marked on buttstock
4. Barrel with Liege Proof
Pic shows .30-06 conversion and original side by side.
The Peruvian M35 bayonet has some czechoslovak signs as it was copy of M32 deliveries to Peru. rivet heads in crossguard and protruding locking nut on pommel and flat L shaped hook on scabbard .Blade lenght was 30cm similar to Vz24 bayonet. b.r.Andy

Rifle I assume? That is not an easy one to find. All matching? I was working on importing one from Germany, but my friend was in a horrific car accident so plans are on hold.

Thank you. For those who don't know Thomas is 7x57 on the forums and has done a lot for the collecting community. He has the 1935 Brazilian Survey on gunboards.
