Sooo true, Nirvana. It's a whole different discussion and probably one worthy of a dedicated thread in the collecting forum below, but it reminds me of documentaries or TV series in which the museum 'collection' is revealed, except that it's closed off to the public and is like a private club for employees only. Too many museums accept donations, but with no obligation at all to disclose that they don't and never will have the space to use the donations to 'educate the public.'
Rotating or thematic displays that bring the items out for display are fine, but many times it's just painfully obvious that otherwise well-intentioned heirs and donors are simply fueling the exclusivity of access.
