Hello,

This is my example, a standard two tone (green/brown) LW camo helmet, similar to the one that Hambone posted earlier.
The helmet has been shot through, alas the decal has been dug.

Cheers,
Peter

Peter,
Very nice helmet!!! Thanks for posting!!

Interesting damage. Looks like something with very low velocity caused it. Maybe a .45, (.30 carbine would dent it), 30.06 ricochet or shrapnel but the bulge on the other side screams bullet and not shrapnel.

A direct shot with a 30.06 would cut through both sides like butter.

Was just messing around yesterday shooting a propaine tank with a .223. These are much thicker than the helmet and the .223 cut through both sides, np..
.
..

From what I have seen and heard, .45 rounds only dented, and .30 carbine rounds went through both sides. I think someone posted a video about it that was on the military.com website.

This is a Belgian M31 helmet that was hit by a .303 round, the bullet was shot from close distance, it deflected on the small rivet and didn't went through on the otherside but just made a dent.
The officer, Cmdt Montjardin, that wore the helmet didn't survive.

Great helmets Peter. The Lw. camo is a well known variant. That variant isn't "exotic" or a "freshie" but it isn't a $3000 fake either ;) Pic stickied.
