Very nice M.95 long rifle. It's nice to find one still chambered in 8X50R

I'm having a hard time to read it, but it seems the handguard is not matching numbers to the action since the two digits it has starts with a 7.

M.95 have had the last two digits of the serial number on the left side at the very rear of the handguard.

Thank you for all comments.

Yes you are right, now I look at it. I haven't noticed it before. It's number 78 and it's hard to read. Thank you for info.
Handguard is replaced, maybe during the war, maybe after the war ... but I think it was a normal small repair ....

The rifle is purchased from Finland, where it was since the end of WWI. It would be interesting to know its history during WWI and how it got to Finland after the WWI. But I can only guess .....

Finland got many Austrian rifles post WWI as reparation payment. If it originates from there, it is most possibly of this origin.
