German used Polish Wz29

Picked this one up recently, all matching..German sling used ersatz style...The negatives are missing band screw, bayo lug pin, and a piece of scotch tape on the stock that didn't take on patina like the rest of the rifle...Described as having a bad bore, was just grease and dust bunnies...It ended up being fairly bright...Kinda cool mod on the lower stock swivel, removed, and metal left in place instead of a wood plug...Bolt is from an earlier rifle ground and renumbered...Safety was thought to have been bubba renumbered, but the fonts on the rest of the bolt match up...Not super rare, but a nice untouched bring back example...Comments Welcome...Thanks for looking...

This is my favorite rifle. I struggle to find good info, so it is nice to see another non-SCW example! Mine is SN: 50##a.

The bottom sling swivel is missing. German modification? Also a vz24 screw might work with your barrel band as both are similar.

Yes, they removed the lower swivel from the band and welded it solid?, and removed lower swivel, tried the vz 24 screw, too big...

rockisle1903 you never cease to amaze me you always seem to find some really cool rifles. I still think your Imperial German marked 1889 Belgium WWI rifle is one of my favorites.

I was hoping that a vz24 screw would work. Could it still be possible to adapt one to fit as I do not know where you’re going to find a wz29 band screw short of cannibalizing another one.

Wow though I still love that fact that you found one with the correct cleaning rod. Those are way rarer than the rifles they came with and I have never seen one on the loose.

Wouldn't be the first time I've had to buy an entire rifle for a small part...Thank goodness there is a ton of SCW rifles out there, but even those aren't as cheap as they used to be...Thanks for the comments, Mike

Very cool rifle, Mike! I agree, I really like that sling swivel modification. It reminds me of some of the ones done on Vz.24 rifles. Congrats on a cool pick-up!
Best,
Pat

Cool find congrats! Might be one of these!
