    Default 1939 243 Luftwaffe

This is one of my favorites k98ks. I haven't taken the bolt apart but what I can see is all matching. The only part I can find that's not original is the cleaning rod and it's marked 01.Comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking.

I'm with you. Do you know a good way to get it off without doing any damage?

I can't say for sure but the first thing that comes to mind is some type of weak masking tape.

Water or steam might damage the wood..

A dentist pick with compressed air...

Soft bristle toothbrush with a little ballistol or howards on it. Nice honest Luftwaffe field rifle T96. Those tiny scratches from cleaning could easily be period cleaning. I've had two original Rg.34 cleaning kits and found period pieces of emory cloth in them for cleaning. If a rifle was in the field and used it would get rust on it and that's how a soldier, not worried about us collectors (this was a tool for him) might clean that rust off. Pic stickied for reference.
