Hi everyone.

It's been a while since I was last on here due to some private stuff going on in my life but I'm glad to be back.

Now I have the following issue,

I bought a 100% numbers matching ce 43 in the cc block, so its a late 43 .The only thing is it's in a Mauser Oberndorf stock with the small eagle and the wAa135. The wearing on the takedown discs and buttplate are equal to the rest of the metal and the stock appears to be original with all the expected dings and dangs and he original finnish. It also has that wonderfull old smell. Is there any chance of the stock being an armour depot replacement,or any other suggestions?

In the Netherlands you can only own a working firearm if you have a permit witch is very hard to get. There for it is deactivated, but I absolutely love the look and the possible history of it. If only rifles could talk....

Any serial number inside the barrel channel on the stock? If not or the stock is mismatched, then it's been replaced at some point.

Your original post didn’t have pictures which probably didn’t help. Sauer did use Oberndorf stocks on uncommon occasion, but this is not one of them. If it were correct it would have Sauer’s small eagle H on the right buttstock and only the keel inspection would denote the stock as an Oberndorf product. This rifle is a put together, the rear action screw machining looks Steyr as well.

If it's a MO stock, a serial number should be inside the barrel channel and handguard. Most likely though, the stock was swapped out. Probably many years ago.

Nov 44 and later

Thanks

Thanks guys,

Interesting because alle the numbers match so why would anybody change the stock... Is there a chance it was done in 44 as a depot replacement?

It could have been a sporter rescue. It was probably an all matching rifle, including the correct stock, that was cut down. Someone decided to bring it back to K98k configuration and used the stock to have now. Or it was just a damaged stock that someone wanted to replace.

thanks

Thanks for your reply,

Like I said it's deactivated anyway,so I'll just enjoy the looks of it. My grandfather was a forced labourer and had to make the shells for the bullets,so I just wanted a piece that honored him. Could have done worser with a RC or a total mismatch ;)
