I really hate to ask such a lame a$$ questions. My illness has kept me away from the the buy sell trade game. Cancer has away of draining your energy and livelyhood. But I need to know. I made a couple of shows and seen a vendor with 5 RC’s he was asking $900 each. On J&G websites they have Iraq jeems @ $1200. Is this what’s really happening? Or is this just grossly over priced mil surplus? Once again please forgive me I must know.

Unfortunately, RC's are getting up there...they seem to regularly go for $700-$800 anymore, but I feel that is grossly overpriced...but my opinion matters naught if people will pay those prices...

The Jeem marked gun seems WAY overpriced...

But, yes, prices have been getting crazy, there are several threads discussing just that...

Also, I hope you are feeling better, my thoughts are with you...

Thank you for your thoughts and blessings. I hated to ask as I’ve been out of the buying game for awhile. I was thinking on getting my new son in law a RC to see if he would be interested in collecting and the passion of collecting. He does seem interested but not at these prices. I feel a matching rifle should be in that range.

Sadly, it does seem like those are the common asking prices for Russian Captures these days. About 10 years ago they could be had for 325 dollars. You can pick up a nice bolt only miss match off the trader from some of the members for 900-1400 depending on the year but now you are also getting close to the beginning of all-matching territory. I'd say if you have the money to purchase the rifles your described at those prices, keep your money, save a little more while you wait, and then get yourself an honest German rifle. If you want a shooter, those can be had on the trader as well for much less. A little patience and the rifle you want can be found here. I'm sorry to hear about your cancer. I wish you good health and hope that you start feeling better soon.

Yeah, well, if you look at that "Pricing is a Tricky Thing" thread, one of the guys just posted a link to a nice matching byf 44 (the most common matching guns) with a starting bid of $3k...

Matching guns, unless you luck into them, are easily $1800 and up...bolt mismatches are going for $1000 and up at times...

If you are looking for something good at pretty reasonable prices, keep watching the Trader section here, no better place to buy a 98k...

I think it varies some by location. At the last VGCA (Virginia Gun Collectors Association) show I went to there were four RCs for sale all of them priced at $600. One was a blank receiver depot build. I don't think any of them sold.

Very solid question Willy, and FWIW, I agree with what has been posted. Except I'll add that the last year, really almost the last six months, has seen a weird pricing jump. I think there are some peripheral guys out there with cash looking for something to buy that holds / increases in value. I think some of the dealer manipulations are causing the appearance of super high prices and others are trying to follow the fallacy.

Be patient, watch our trader, something cool will turn up at a reasonable price. Prayers and thoughts are with you during this Christmas season. My mother has been fighting a very aggressive breast cancer for a year and seems to have beat it.
Cheers,
HB

Thank you. Reality. Those who don't know need to sit down, do some deep breathing, step away from the internets, and not provide the wind beneath the manipulative dealer's little horsefly wings.

Thank you all for the info. I’ve been doing a whole lot of reading here. It helps to take my mind of things. God bless y’all and have A very merry Christmas!
