Gustloff KKW ZF41 Sniper

I have an early Gustloff KKW and this later ZF41. I liked this Gustloff ZF41 Sniper Trainer and decided to post photos of it. Not many pictures of one out there I could find. Interested in opinions. It has been to Spandau like several Low Turret Snipers I have seen. How many do you think were made?

I have not taken grease off of the rail yet. If you want more pictures of anything let me know.

Very Nice and Interesting example , this is like only the 3rd on I have seen in 20+years of collecting . I am in agreement with Jack on the Stock great piece of wood . Proofs are fresh and mint crispy crisp as the day they were Stamped . Thanks for sharing it Brian .

Super cool Brian! Really neat to see it in detail! I can only remember one posted here ever, and have never seen one in person, couldn’t be many around.

Thanks. I was really sure it was a worthy example. I just wanted to post it here as I was sure many of you had seen these in hand before. It looked perfect to me, but it is always nice to have the opinions of others as well. I have only seen one other of these in hand before and it was at SOS last year. Also, there are some in the trainer book that just came out maybe last year. Thanks for your interest and making your thoughts known.

Nice looking rifle Brian. I always wanted one of these to shot.

I have to ask for educational purposes. How do we determine when these are originals? We know they definitely used these (one can be seen in use in the video on my home page). But how is it determined that yours is war time and not put together post war? Are there any specific markings or features? Did only Gusltoff assemble these? Thanks

I did not realize you had a video of one in use. I will have to check that out.

Mr. Simpson’s book on trainers has these. SU proofs like the late BYF Low Turrets. Made at Spandau and not Gustloff.

Would be great to see more examples.

I’ve got another Gustloff I shoot.

O.k. got you. I too would like to see more examples.

Yes, if you watch the video that is on the home page of my website you will see them shooting these trainers at a sniper school. Watch at about the .37 second mark.

Cool I did not know these were on a video. That’s awesome. Where did you get said video and where is it posted? I learn something new every day.

No kidding allowed. Except maybe this one time. Ha Ha.

The video was on youtube at one time. RyanE converted it so that it could be permanently on my site instead of being a link. I used it because it showed most of the rifles used, K98k snipers, K43 snipers and 22. Trainer.

You are talking about this guy. Might be a DSM ZF41 looking at that front band. I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of screen shooting your video.

This is a DSM ZF41 Trainer in Video and not the KKW ZF41 Trainer . Still its really cool to see this DSM ZF41 Trainer in the Video not 100% sure but I think the DSM ZF41 are even harder to find than KKW ZF41 Trainer . All in all a great thread .

Yes it is a DSM and not a KKW. I always forget that.

And I don't mind at all. Everything on my website is there to be shared. I consider it an accomplishment of those of us here on this forum.

nice textbook late zf41 equipped KKW. there are a very few Mauser made dsm34's with zf41 mount. I have only ever seen one I felt that was legit. The mount was attached with screws and possibly soldered on also.
A member here owned it and I'm not sure what happened to him.

Here's one I picked up earlier this year for comparison. It's snowing here so this is the best I could do with photos for now.
