The story on this gun is that my great grandfather brought it home from his tour in Europe near the end of the war. It is cleary meant to emulate a mauser in function, but is single shot, and chambered in .22 lr
The only markings present are the Steyr marking on the receiver, and a possible serial number, both attached. It throws me, because it has a full handguard, more like many export model mauser rifles than a German gun, and I understand Steyr being Austria. Hours of google searching have yielded me none that look just like this one. Does anybody know what this is?
