Hi. Does this looked stripped or sanded to anyone? It feels a bit rough in the hands. Thanks!

I’d say it probably had shellack and was stripped but not sanded. Looks like they did a good job.

Agreed...should have the original oil finish

Agreed also. The edges are still super sharp. Crisp. I did notice the grain in the 3rd and 4th? photos. Look at the bottom of the bolt handle cutout and the side especially under the firing proof. Suggestions Bruce?

The last pic I have

I saw that but it didn't really bother me. I thought it was just a cool anomaly.

I agree, just an error, nothing that affects the value. That last pic makes it look untouched, so if it is stripped it’s very well done. Either that or your pics aren’t 100% true colors. Looks like a nice one.

Would the rough-like feel to the wood on an early stock be indicative of a strip job? Thanks

Now I'm also thinking the tint of the slab side photos of the butt were somehow 'off'. The last photo of the keel it just doesn't look like there was ever any goop in the stamp. Sure looks to me like it hasn't ever had any finish added or stripped.
