G98 Emilbush mount

JACKDANIELS

Senior Member
Good morning from North France

I finally managed to buy 2 G98 WW1 snipers and here are the pictures of the first

It is mainly of interest for the entire barrel housing and its original mounting with offset rear base. I identified it as a DANTZIG 1917, I base myself on a subject in this forum listing the rifles marked Gl.V. on the rise (Glassvisier)

http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread...Gl-V-Marked-Rifles-and-M1916-Glasvisier-Study

The stock is not matching

The bolt is not matching and is a reconstruction of at least two other weapons, note the body which is WW1 which is folded

The glasses, its case and its accessories are presented here

http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread.php?35739-Emilbusch-WW1-with-metal-case

The locking button is repro (tapped M3) and I am looking for the draw of an original pusher to stick with the original part (M2.5 I think)

They are desactived with pin barrel

Best regards

Hello Amberg

239/5000
on the right is the part of the locking system and the spring found on the rifle, on the left the button and the part are repro.
I am looking for the dimensioned drawing of the button, please confirm that the parts on the right are original (diam 2.5 mm)

we see on this rifle that the shape of the button is not the same

https://www.morphyauctions.com/jame...r-model-98-rifle-gewhr-98-sniper-rifle-34077/

thank you so much

I must admit, that I never compared the push buttons on my Busch rifles. But I think they are identical.
Since I'm not very skilled with drawings and do not have the necessary gauges, I'll have to ask a friend.
It will take some days, but I can provide the drawing you need to reproduce the button.

First of all, very nice rifle (and the second one too)! I have two of these myself and they are both a bit different from yours. Both however have the screws at the rear base all somehow aligned to each other (the cutout), same for the front base.

If I find time I will measure dimensions and see if that helps you. Looking forward to pictures of the second rifle!

I can wait a few days, even a few weeks, Thank you very much Amberg

Thank you Absolut

Can we say by whom the bold handle turned down were made?

The extractor is post WW1, Waa26 stamped

Attached some detail shots of my all matching (OK, cleaning rod is mismatching...) Emil Busch sniper. Note the alignment of the screw heads. Also note the rear scope base is serialized on bottom to match the rifle.

Also did some measurings for you, I think you are correct with M 2,5 threading.

Thank you Absolut, It looks in perfect condition

Do you have a photo of the phus-button?

Best regards

Sorry, took the picture when I have had the push button out for measuring for the drawing! I will do professional pictures of my rifle and post them when I find the time, then you can see all details.

Is the bottom of your rear scope base also matched to the rifle?

The rear base is numbered but not the same number and in the other direction, the engraving is not deep and I think more of a machining number, photo as soon as possible

Sorry I speak French

Non je ne suis pas RR mais si on connait le même je l'ai eu ce matin au téléphone :happy0180:

No I am not RR but if we know the same I got it this morning on the phone: happy0180:

:biggrin1: Sorry I speak English - et un peu de Francais!

Merci pour votre réponse et veuillez transmettre mes salutations à R.R, s'il vois plait.:happy0180:

Thanks for the sketch Absolut

The reproduction of the button will be improved when I would have found a set of 3 handtap M 2,5, I used a single handtap and it is missing a little deep

My rear window base is serialized but does not correspond, reuse from the time, my scope has 2 different numbers also machining or reworking number?

The rear base assembly seems later than the front base assembly

The collector who sold me the rifle and the scope found them separately, it was not he who put down a rear base

It is not a superb rifle but a good support for the scope
