Want to Start Collecting

Hi all, I'm just starting the collecting biz, and have already bought myself a Mosin. I've always wondered, where and how much are the German Kar98k and Gewehr 98s? What's the price range and where are good places to start looking? The expert's help would be greatly appreciated!

Right here on this forum is the best place to look. These guys won’t steer you wrong and if sometime looks off, it will get called out. The true experts reside here! After a few more posts, you should have access to the trader section. Be sure to do your research first, ask questions, read posts and check out the reference section.

As far as cost, for K98s, it varies a lot. A Russian capture could be worth $400 and an original matching example can cost $2000. It depends on what you’re looking for. A shooter with mixed parts or a correct collectors example. As far as Gew 98’s, I’m not as familiar valuing those.

if you really want to start "Collecting" the first thing is research if you do not like to research its the wrong hobby.

first suggestion go through ALL the post regard WW2 K-98 here. forget the other sites

you may want to pick a certain manufacturer and study them and expand from there into other company's

there are some great books written by members here, if you are serious, pony up the cash and start buying the reference books mentioned on this site

also there is a difference between Collecting and Accumulating , most buyers are accumulators

It sounds like accumulating is the route I want to go. I just want a nice shooter I can mount a period scope on and call it a day. Do RCs have any less accuracy than the standard numbers matching? I just want a nice sniper I can practice with.
