dou 43 c-block

I rolled the dice a bit on this one but I'm glad I did. Mid '43 dou, bolt & handguard m/m (but both also from dou c-block, 247 rifles earlier).
The fit & color of the hg makes me think this might have occurred at the factory but who knows. Condition-wise I am happy with it.

Sold to me from a vet's son, apparently the vet was a paratrooper and demolitions guy in Normandy. No provenance, all I have is his name.
Let me know what you think!

More pics. Not much grime to speak of, only old hairs in this one.

Wonderful rifle, love that crisp stock! I’m guessing that there is another identical dou bring back from the same unit with the corresponding bolt and hand guard!

Definitely the most likely. But the proximity of s/n, same letter block & manufacturer...these are things I tell myself before sleeping and my dreams are better for it  I picked this up because of the caramel-blonde stock though, and the wood does not disappoint on this one.

Wood looks very nice, and here's a good example of buying what you like. Nothing wrong with a bolt mm... just sad the HG is also mm. dou did do a few where letters were added to bolts .... but it's good to know that most are without... learn the font and your golden.

Definitely buying what I like, but credit where credit is due... it's you who gave me this wood bug! And helped me vet, many thanks. I'm also a bit down on the HG but the fact that it fits so well and has the same color and grain, and is 247 rifles away...I can live with it. I wish I could be as certain about the bolt but bigdibbs is right... At least the finish fits and it's a dou bolt. And from the bore and bolt-face, it looks unfired which is neat.

Edit: Anyone have suggestions for what to do with the rust developing near the rear sight?

Really nice rifle. Its real easy to forgive that mismatched handguard in my opinion.
Gorgeous wood.
Congrats

Many thanks CE. Love to have a good clean one like this to show to you guys.

About the circle Z marking - volume IIb of Karem & Steves says this shows up in 1944 and 45, I wonder if there are other '43 rifles with it though.
