Hi everyone!
My name is Jakub, I'm from Poland and it's my first post here.

I have got an offer to buy interesting rifle. Can you guys please tell if this is original german WW2 sniper rifle set? Can't find enough informations on Mauser Sniper rifles from WW2, unlike to Mosin sniper rifles. Perhaps someone owns mr Law's book on German sniper rifles (Volume II of "Backbone of the Wehrmacht") and would be kind to share informations? Unfortunately, I own only first volume.
Greetings from Poland!

Hello Jakub.
Welcome here.
I think you can see from what has been said it’s definitely not legit.
I think Dave R. summed it it well for ya.....,,

I strongly recommend that you consider purchasing the collector books
That are listed on the link at the top of the home page.
The knowledge you will get from them will allow you to
Make an informed decision on a possible purchase.

There is a reference section you can get to on the home page as well and some good pictures and information that can really help you.

Jakub, always ask questions here because there are some very knowledgeable collectors here
That are willing to share and help you along.

Steveo

Mauser K98 sportarized

Can anyone possibly tell me some things about this German k98 sportarization? Apparently it was WWll, but ofcourse brought back and put a 30-06 barrel, and a different stock. Just curious what I dont know and what this could be worth?

Looks like a very typical late 50s/early 60s style sporter conversion. In good shape with a decent scope (that looks like an early post-war Weaver), it's probably worth in range of $300-400 if you can find the right buyer. But sporterized milsurps can be a tough sell these days. Dealers aren't interested and most new hunters would rather buy a new plastic stocked gun at a box store for about the same price. But these vintage rifles can be very classy and great shooters. Being in 30-06 is a slight bonus compared to if it was still 8mm Mauser.
