The "M" prefix should be the last batch of Vz 23 production before the switch to Vz 24. Yours was accepted by the Czechoslovakian army in 1924. It was at some point re barreled by the Germans and received a new firing proof. Also, the rifle was placed in a Vz 24 stock at some point as well. Is the bolt a mismatch?

Are the stock, bolt, or any other parts matching? The Nazi's built rifles using leftover parts when they annexed Czechoslovakia. There's a ton of variations out there and no two rifles are exactly alike. I own 2, one of which used a 98/22 receiver and the other a VZ-23. Both were re-barreled with a new barrel which included a Nazi firing proof. The 98/22 build does have matching serial numbers applied to the front band, stock, trigger guard, and magazine floorplate. A bolt takedown disk was also installed. The other is a mismatch.

Metall of the piece in M range is already Vz.23a modell, with replaceable sights blades. Here unfortunally with replacement barell and buttstock, which made it a Vz.24 rifle.
