Legacy has a decent looking 29/o on the web site, but the bolt looks wrong. Anybody else take note of the Mauser E/63 bolt proofs on the rifle in question.

Post a screen shot of the ad, serial, and comparison pics of the subject bolt and an original, otherwise this thread becomes worthless as soon as the ad comes down. I would suggest as a topic:

G.29o 660 1939 no._____ Humped Bolt

(Screen shot of ad)
(Screen shot of humped bolt) (Pic of an original bolt)

Like this, we have the info, anyone that needs the information can access it, anyone googling the serial can find it, anyone wanting to know the difference between a fake versus original "G.29o" bolt can learn, which information is available as long as the site is here. Again, otherwise, this is a throwaway thread in a week or less. Thanks:happy0180:

G12/34 with replaced bolt

I have attached a screen shot and images of the bolt.
The bolt is circa 1936-1937 Mauser Oberndorf and appears to have a mix of early and later Waffenamts making it more problematic.

The correct bolt for this rifle is unique and this bolt is from a K98k so for starters bad.
The numbering on the cocking piece presents issues as there is obvious machining done on that part.

So you basically have a near 6000.00 rifle with the wrong bolt.

Just happy coincidence with that bolt number - if you dont take into account the letter block.

Thank you Bruce, that's excellent and nails it right down and the thread will continue to be useful and informative for years as opposed to of little to no value in a week. The OP is to be thanked and commended for taking the time to warn.

This is G.12/34 / G.29o 660 1939 serial 4353 b :

And here is the bonus for this thread. ;)

Great work Ham. Makes it really easy. Without giving too much away there are some glaring differences that should be relatively easy to spot. The only thing that could make that better would be some numeral commonality so those fonts could be compared directly too.

Thanks HM. So, what is the value with a mismatched (but "matching") bolt?

A whole new category of rifle! Ha. The only two matching ones I saw actually sell last year went for 3500 and 2400, there was a bolt m/m or two as well, can’t recall their prices.

Unfortunately it's already out of stock, someone bought this one. I haven't known these guys to be intentionally misleading or proven humpers before, might just be moving it along unknowingly.

Yep, hence the need to post pics, screenshots, serial ID for posts like this. There may be no ad and no pics tomorrow. If my old rule of thumb still holds, that a mm bolt rifle is worth 1/2 what the same rifle would be worth with a matching bolt, then the buyer overpaid by 100%.
