COMPLETELY forgot about this one, hope someone here grabbed it in MD a couple days ago?? Hope to see more of it if so
I had a Karab 98b action - complete w/triggerguard assy , that was only bolt mismatch. It was damn near minty condition and had the same scope bases on it. A buddy's grandfather had been a cop and shooter of renown before WW2. and wound up in ordnance in Europe. He sent home several boxes of actions he stripped of barrels and wood. Made a handful of beautiful sporter target rifles and still had a box of actions I bought from him at $50 an action. The Karab 98b all E/6 proofed was one of them. The bolt in it was a scarce polish Kar98a type turned down handle. Anyhow I found a buddy ( Rich Milton ) had two Weimar military marked scopes that were made for that type of base. Once Rich saw that action he had to have it and he eventually traded me out of it and using one of his scopes , then a bunch of karab 98b parts he horded he built it back into a proper looking karab 98b sniper. Where he found an E/6 armorers bolt , barrel and a superb 98b stock I can't imagine...but he always was a scrounger of excellent original parts. This was back in the 90's when the old KCN newsletter was still around.
