East German re-finish and re-park.

I’m trying to figure out who made it.

Haenel? WaA37?

fxo - C.G. Haenel, Waffen und Fahhrad-Fabrik, Suhl, Thüringen?

cos - Merz-Werke, Gebr. Merz, Frankfurt am Main, Hessen?

Thank you

Greatly appreciated.

Long story short this is one of two MP44’s that I purchased years ago, this one back in 2012. I live in Canada and I couldn’t own them directly (due to our full-auto/converted auto laws) but I could purchase them and have them stored at a gun store that had been in business since the 1960’s. I also worked there one evening a week which gave me time to admire the MP’s. I also had the idea of one day opening my own business or museum which would allow me to own them through the business. Sadly the business where they were stored went bankrupt about two years ago. After exhausting all options (sale, export, etc.) the other MP44 got part kitted as that was the only option to retrieve the MP44 from the banks receiver. This other one took 2 years of legalities and has finally been released and I can have the option to make it into a DEWAT - sad I know but at least I don’t lose it completely. I had to know the maker to complete the DEWAT work. There were also three P08s stuck there too, but I should have those back tomorrow via the post!!!

Since it has a Parkerized finish (darker in this pick) would it be wrong to have a blued magazine on it? Or would it just not look as nice?

I realize the rifle and mags came blued, parkerized and in the white and I’m sure that in 1944 they didn’t care. But looking for some more advice.

save your pennies, one day we may let you into the club

all the east german kits that made it to the US were demilled, I recall reading a article from a Kiwi, who has/had a east german MP-44, I can only assume its well hidden or on its way to the scrap yard
