Sniper configuration original or assembled after the war ?? See pictures please

Good afternoon,

I have a very nice Mauser 98K in a very good condition.
Every number of the rifle is the same, and also the belt is original and in very good condition.
manufactured bij J.P. Sauer in 1941
I want sell this object, after i was the owner for 20 years now.
I have 2 questions for you:

Is the sniper configuration original? or has it been placed after the war period? (I bought the rifle with the information the everything should be original....)
What is the value of the rifle on this time?

Your rifle is NOT originally a sniper, that is a not the type of sniper Sauer assembled, ever. Sorry.

The front base is of similar design to the German Reichswehr scope mount, while at the same time definitely not the same as it would originally had looked like. Plus of course fully being wrong for a K98k rifle from this period. I would assume it takes a scope with the Reichswehr mount. Do you have a picture of the rear scope base as well?

New pics added

Maybe these new pics give some more information.

It is a pity that someone killed from what is visible a matching numbers K98k rifle to add these scope bases. From your pictures it looks as if front base is dovetailed into receiver. Can you confirm this? If it was NOT dovetailed into the receiver I would remove the scope base, maybe you can still read the original date under it. It would be worth more without this base. The rear base was removed anyway so you are not able to fit a scope.

Reichswehr sniper rifles had this kind of mount: http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread.php?39870-Reichswehr-Sniper-at-auction/page2 . This is how the bases originally looked. The base on your rifle is similar to this base. It might once have had an original Reichswehr scope, but the bases are someones garage home job.

That reversed photo #3 threw me for a loop for a second!

Nah. That was by mistake a picture of the rare left hand gun that was made for special purpose ... !

Don't worry, it got me scratching my head as well for some time.
