Researching American soldiers service.

I’ve seen a few similar post here so I thought I’d ask for some help. Trying to find a way to pin down my grandfathers WWII service. I know he served with the American First Army. Always thought it was pretty straight forward until recently when my grandmother passed and I found some records that showed his service was much more extensive. Haven’t had much luck with local veterans services or any of the online search sites. I know the fire in the 60’s destroyed a lot of information. I know you guys here are an incredible source of knowledge so interested in your thoughts. Thank You!

What documents do you have of his?

I use Geoff at Golden Arrow Research. Send in the info you have and get a quote. He is reasonable and finds great information. You may have more documents already than exist in the archives however. Totally depends, but worth a shot.

Thank you all for responding. The problem I’ve had is that I seem to have more information already than any of the other search sites produce. They only show his last enlistments in ‘46 and his reserve enlistment in 1948. I have papers that show his first enlistment in 1937 at 17. Also information that he landed in Normandy and spent time at Battle of Bulge. Also have pictures of him in Paris. Perhaps I’ll try the Golden Arrow. See what they think.
