HI all. I found that bayonet with "4S" stamped guard on EBay.
I am not gonna buy it, but I would like to know, what it means...
Any thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Mod Edit: Removed Auction link. Posting the photo is enough for answer your question anyways .

Technically we are not supposed to discuss active auction items unless it is a "Buy-It-Now" type listing. Based on the bids, something is up...

I personally dont like the blueing, note the rivets heads are different color in crossguard, hook area of crossguard, before place so high bid for similar item, not rare Hoerster of 1939 year. S could be a inventory stamp.b.r.Andy

There was a previous number stamped before the 4 S , appears to be 4 2 and maybe a third number after the 2.Common bayonet with a few numbers stamped on its cross guard and bidders go nuts. Maybe they know something, but probably not.

Two another bayonets with the "2S" and "6S" stamps were at the EBAY auction yesterday.
I'm still trying to get some information on those stamps...

Bayonet S/185K was refurbished as plastic grips, on 1934 production, the second one has wrong assembled screws, it could be both were refurbished in one depot, declared S.
