Ethiopian Gew 98

A friend and I went in together to purchase some rifles from IO or inter ordnance. Little expensive condition wise but that is okay with me. This Gew 98 not in the greatest condition but if this Gew 98 could talk. It could have tons of stories to tell. It's a little bit of of a mix monster. It is however made by Mauser Oberndorf in 1916. The Gew 98 must have been refurbished, reassembled, repaired or something. The barrel has been turned. It does have a nice lion of Judah on the barrel. The rear sight slider has been put on backwards. The rear sight pin has been replaced with a nail. It also has an Italian AOI mark on the stock. It will take some time to clean up. That being said if anybody does by any of these from inner ordinance. Just get ready to clean and clean.

The Gewehr went rastafari  Thank you for the pictures, Ian Mc Collum showed a Gew 88 from the same batch, but I prefer the Gew 98. The poor thing has lost its front sight, good luck with the cleaning. I would be curious to see her again after a gentle grooming.

Never loss hope Guillaume you can bring them back to their glory!

That's actually the barrel receiver of the 1914 DWM after being left in an attic. The Simson was equally as bad, that was a long endeavor to do the cleaning and restoring right without damaging patina and the original finish.
