Can anyone shed some light on this bayonet.

Hello Your bayonet is german S98/05nA, made in WW1 1915 accepted, the RLM serial number on pommel speaks for 3R.period using by Reich Luftfahrt Ministerium, inventory number.Normally similar bayonets were reworked in 30ies with blued blade, and sloted press button, black paint on scabbard is probably not period. b.r.Andy
 
Thank you for the info Andy. Also it does look a 15 in the photo but it is 16. Just a bad angle.

Any idea on a fair value for this if I decide to sell it? If so I plan on posting it here.

Last one i saw that sold was about $ 187.00. Yours has a repainted scabbard. So im sure it would be a lower amount. Just my opinion. SVW1945
 
Possible its 16, i dont see its exactly, anyway the blade was polished probably, reshaped tip,so probably old blueing was removed by cleaning, or it was not blued.
