I'll let it speak for itself. The scabbard is eichorn 39. Didn't want to attempt to remove it from the frog.

That name and serial number can be researched further . And to make sure the story is true. SVW1945
 
I contacted the seller. He bought it from Mr. Lipkin in 1999. He doesn't know if he is still living.
I'll do some research. He would be well into his 90s now. Maybe check the obituaries.
That would be quite a find if I can find his obituary and it mentions him being in the 82nd!

Good luck with your research. I have a number of veteran purchased bayonets with that type of tape and soldier's name, ASN, etc writing. Even one or two with address information and postage where they were simply labeled and sent home in that fashion.
