December 1960 American Rifleman Ad. Sounds like the carnival barking wasn't complete gibberish. Heck, I'd like to buy some of those mags too.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics consumer price index, today's prices in 2020 are 766.18% higher than average prices since 1960. The U.S. dollar experienced an average inflation rate of 3.66% per year during this period, causing the real value of a dollar to decrease. In other words, $49.95 in 1960 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $432.66 in 2020, a difference of $382.71 over 60 years.

It doesn't say so but I wonder if these would be Finnish Captures. The ads time period makes sense for that.
 
I can't imagine they came direct from the Soviet Union back then. We weren't exactly on the friendliest terms with them in 1960!
 
Funny the cut down mags are more money just due to labor. They turned some of these into hideous spotters lol
