Found this thing online in an auction .. decided I need to buy it to avoid someone doing stupid stuff with it and take it off the market since it appears to be original. It is 9mm long and 5.5mm high (approx.). Given its condition it must had seen heavy usage. I thought there was a thread somewhere that I've read this morning speaking of Japanese contract K98k rifles that have had a similar stamp on the stock, but seems I can't find it any more. Anyway, maybe this was the stamp that was applied to these rifles. I'll also compare it with South American rifle stocks which have the Mauser Banner stamped to the stock when I get hold of one.
