I was looking at some artillery Lugers at a friends and he goes notice anything about the sight leaf? Blew my mind. Wanted to share in case others have not noticed this. Some serious engineering forethought..... As a thought exercise I will leave the why blank for now but feel free to chime in when you see it. Sorry if this is common knowledge but I had no idea.

Of course the unmarked photos are flipped, I am sorry I can not fix it. Stupid phone orientation.

The first time I noticed the off center rear sight I couldn't believe it. I found out later that it was to compensate for the spin of the 9mm bullet.

Bingo. Absolutely crazy.

They are very optimistic with ranges. I've heard in all reality they are able to hit stuff out to about 150.

Hitting cans and such with a good 9mm pistol is not that tough at 100 yds. I’ve shot an Inglis with stock at 100 yds and hitting a man sized torso target at 200 consistently is something I can do. At 500? Uh.

A fascinating detail I was totally unaware of. Like Hambone, even I, not a great shot, can hit targets at 100 to 150 yards with my Inglis tangent, but what I’m curious about is at what point does spin deflection become a factor? 300 to 400 yards maybe? And why does the Inglis sight go to 500 meters with no deflection adjustment? At any rate, don’t think I really have to worry about it!
